Perillo BMW in Chicago Shows the Innovative Safety Technology in BMW Vehicles
Perillo BMW in Chicago is helping customers stay safe on the road with the new and innovative technology in BMW cars.

CHICAGO, IL, July 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- BMW is known for its innovative technology that is meant to enhance the joy of driving. Another primary concern for the German automaker is developing technology that keeps drivers safe. With distractions from cell phones, the radio, and even passengers, BMW has developed innovative technology features to keep drivers safe among the growing list of distractions. Perillo BMW is showing customers how the latest safety features can keep them safe.

BMW believes that one thing that is even more important than driving fast is being able to stop fast. BMW developed an Enhanced Braking System that does more than just slow the vehicle down. In wet conditions, the braking system dries off the rotors to ensure a quick stop. If stopped on a hill, the brakes keep the car from rolling back. In addition, the intuitive system will prepare the brake if the driver quickly pulls their foot off the accelerator.

Another optional safety feature from BMW is a Lane Departure Warning system. Using a camera mounted between the rear-view mirror and windshield, the camera can "see" the markings on the road ahead. If the driver begins to change lanes without signaling first, the steering wheel subtly vibrates as a reminder.

Drivers know that nighttime driving requires even more concentration due to reduced visibility. BMW is taking some of the strain away from drivers with Night Vision. This system allows drivers to see pedestrians or animals up to 328 yards ahead in the dark using an infrared camera mounted on the front of the car. BMW is also keeping drivers safe at night with the revolutionary Xenon Adaptive Headlights. Using an electromechanical system, the headlights follow the direction of the wheels which allows drivers to see more of the road, sooner. The xenon lights also emitted twice as much light as the standard halogen light, while using half as much energy.
