Trevor finds safe driving instruction for teenagers a worthwhile cause.

Trevor Nelson, nephew of country singer and legend Willie Nelson chose to be a part of www.teenlivedrive.com by hosting
several of the video segments, teaching teenagers the rules of the road.

"I could have used all the video instruction when I was getting ready to drive, says Trevor, an actor who recently worked on the set of 'Friday Night Lights'. "I like the idea of contributing to drivers education for teenagers."

"Trevor is an excellent actor and more than that a super nice person who jumped in and helped move gear during the shoot", says Paul Greenway, producer of the video content. "I felt real lucky to have him on the project."

Teenagers can watch real life driving situations on-line on real roads while listening to a professional driving instructor talk about the traffic and approaching situations.

The new website, www.teenlivedrive.com, allows teenagers to download video files that play on iPods, iPhones, iTunes and in QuickTime on desktops and laptops.

"Most schools don't teach behind the wheel anymore, says Jim Grimm, driving instructor and coach at Reagan High School in Austin, Texas. "I think an in-the-car instructor is best, still an in-the-car instructor online is great, since many kids wind up tuning out a parent."

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that car crashes are the leading cause of death among teens, nearly 6000 every year and some 300,000 injured.
NHTSA promotes a graduated driver licensing system, where young drivers satisfy staggered requirements before full driving privileges, a system that has shown a reduction in crashes.



"I know that this video instruction is the next best thing to actually driving with a parent ", says Paul Greenway, producer of the video content. "And I think the on the road driving at teen live drive fits nicely with a graduated licensing program."
